
Eleven labourers lost their lives in a powerful bomb explosion that shook the Shawal tehsil in North Waziristan. Two others were critically injured.
The detonation occurred near Gul Mir Kot as a vehicle, transporting the laborers, was traversing the area on 19 August 2023.
Among the 16 laborers present, 11 tragically lost their lives instantly, while two sustained severe injuries, and three are currently unaccounted for.
Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, with both the police and security forces arriving at the blast site. They promptly transported the deceased bodies and wounded individuals to a nearby hospital. Continuous efforts are underway to determine the whereabouts of the missing workers.
It has been confirmed by official sources that the labourers were engaged in construction activities for a government building that was still under development.
The individuals who lost their lives were identified as Mubeetullah, Sahab Noor, Jannatullah, Asadullah Khan, Mir Wali Khan, Maqbool Khan, Sher Zahid, Syed Manoor, Mahaad Ayaz, Muhammad Wali, and Gul Haseen.
The injured parties were Umar Zahid and Umar Ayaz.
Earlier on the same day, in Makin tehsil of Upper South Waziristan, four members of the Bomb Disposal Squad encountered grave injuries when unidentified individuals fired a rocket at their vehicle.
This event highlights the ongoing security challenges and instability in the region, with such attacks impacting both civilian workers and security personnel.
