- Two suspects involved in looting Rs26.2 million and murdering a security guard were killed during an alleged encounter by their accomplices while in police custody during a raid to apprehend the remaining members of the gang in Islamabad (8.9.24).
KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA (KPK)

- Due to a decade-old enmity between two gang groups in Lahore—Khawaja Tareef Gulshan @ Teefi Butt and the slain Arif Ameer @ Tipu Truckanwala—Javed Butt, the brother-in-law of Teefi Butt, was shot dead while driving near FC College Underpass, Lahore. His wife was critically injured (2.9.24).
- Police rescued a student, Ayan, who was kidnapped in Faisalabad, and arrested two suspects, including a woman. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 30 million as ransom (3.9.24).

Comments & Analysis: Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch condemned the recent sanctions imposed by the US, calling them “biased and politically motivated,” and criticized the practice of sanctioning companies “on mere suspicion.” She highlighted the double standards of certain countries that claim strict adherence to non-proliferation norms while waiving licensing requirements for advanced military technologies to their favored states, which she said undermines global non-proliferation regimes, increases military imbalances, and threatens international peace and security. Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO): The 23rd SCO Ministerial Conference emphasized the need for multilateral trade systems and endorsed initiatives to foster cooperation between member countries. Delegations from seven countries gathered in Islamabad, while representatives from India and Kazakhstan participated virtually (13.9.24).
