Iran, that was straining on the leash to respond Israel’s attack on Hezbollah in Beirut, has launched scores of ballistic missiles on Israel. The missiles pierced through the Israeli air defence system and landed at Tel Aviv. Israeli Army Radio says Iran fired more than 200 missiles on Israeli territory. The losses are being assessed. Simultaneously, two armed persons killed six Israelis in Tel Aviv.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says missile attacks were aimed at military targets. They said any retaliation from Israel would entail more severe attack. Israel says it will not go unanswered.
US had warned Israel of expected Iranian attack about four hours prior to the attacks. Netanyahu has been taken to a bomb shelter. People have been asked to stay indoors.
According to CNN Israel is using its citizens as human shields as the command and control system has been strategically positioned in the congested civilian areas.
Iranian TV showed people of Iran celebrating the attack by waving flags and chanting slogans.
