The high-intensity exercise validated combat readiness and featured advanced weapon systems, including fighter aircraft, combat aviation, long-range artillery, and next-gen engineering. Troops demonstrated exceptional tactical agility. The COAS praised the professionalism of the troops and reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty, warning that any misadventure by India would be met with a swift and resolute response (1.5.25).
Corps Commanders’ Conference at GHQ
The COAS chaired a Special Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at GHQ, conducting a comprehensive review of the prevailing geo-strategic environment, with a focus on the Pakistan-India standoff and regional security. The forum reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, praised operational preparedness and unity with the people, and expressed grave concern over Indian atrocities in IIOJK, especially after the Pahalgam incident and unprovoked LoC violations. A resolute response was promised. India’s crisis exploitation, diversionary tactics, and attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty and weaponize water resources were also condemned (2.5.25).
Pakistan Conducts Training Launch of Abdali and Fateh Missiles
Pakistan successfully conducted a training launch of the Abdali, a surface-to-surface missile with a 450 km range. A training launch of the FATAH series, a surface-to-surface missile with over a 120 km range, was also carried out to ensure troop readiness and validate its advanced navigation system and accuracy. These launches were observed by senior Army officers, scientists, and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organizations. The Prime Minister appreciated ISI’s role and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty (6.5.25).
Pakistan-India Armed Conflict
First Phase
On the night of 6th and 7th May, India launched unprovoked strikes on Pakistan and AJK, killing at least 31 civilians and injuring 57. Targets included mosques and hydropower projects across six locations, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and the Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric project. Pakistan termed it a “blatant act of war” and responded by shooting down five IAF jets—three Rafales, one MiG-29, and one SU-30. India also launched over 70 Israeli-made Herop and other drones, all of which were shot down or crashed across civil and military locations in Sindh, Punjab, and AJK. According to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Pakistan’s retaliatory actions destroyed a brigade HQ and multiple checkposts along the LoC. Indian infiltration attempts occurred in Lahore, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Attock, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Miano near Karachi. One drone strike in Lahore injured four army personnel, damaged equipment, and killed a civilian. This phase may be termed a “deterrence of denial” to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Second Phase
On the morning of April 10th, missile attacks from India targeted Pakistan Air Force bases at Nur Khan, Murid, and Rafiqui. Pakistan launched a retaliatory operation named ‘Bunyan-um-Marsoos’, striking several Indian air bases including Jaisalmer, Bathinda, Adampur, Chandigarh, Suratgarh, Udhampur, Pathankot, and Srinagar. According to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, most Indian missiles were intercepted, and those that got through caused no damage to flying assets. This phase may be termed a “deterrence for punishment” from Pakistan’s side.
Third Phase – The Ceasefire and Post-Development
A ceasefire, brokered by the USA with personal intervention by President Trump and mounting pressure from China, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, and others, was enforced on the evening of 10th May. However, violations continued, with both sides accusing each other in IIOJK. A hotline meeting between the DGMOs of Pakistan and India took place on 12th May to implement a full ceasefire. While forces remain alert and deployed in IIOJK, the situation is currently calm. India is allegedly hiding its losses, whereas Pakistan released detailed figures on 13–14 May 2025.
ISPR List
On the night of 6–7 May 2025, the Indian Armed Forces launched unprovoked and reprehensible attacks targeting innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. These barbaric strikes resulted in the martyrdom of 40 civilians—7 women and 15 children—and injuries to 121 others, including 10 women and 27 children. In retaliation, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched Operation Marka-e-Haq under ‘Bunyan-um-Marsoos’, executing precise retributive strikes. Thirteen personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces embraced martyrdom and 78 were wounded.
Comments & Analysis: From 6th to 10th May 2025, a four-day intense skirmish involving drones, airstrikes, and missile attacks targeted air defence systems, airbases, and strategic locations. Pakistan revealed casualties and damages, while India made unverified claims without disclosing its losses. Independent sources reported that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) inflicted heavy damage, shooting down six Indian jets during dogfights involving 120 fighters on both sides. Pakistan deployed JF-17 Thunder Block-III and Chinese J-10C jets equipped with PL-15 missiles, which proved highly effective.
Pakistan’s success in air superiority impacted global perception, causing a drop in the French Rafale’s market share and a rise in demand for the Chinese J-10C and PL-15 systems. Though India agreed to a ceasefire on May 10 under U.S. and global pressure, tensions remain high due to provocative statements from Indian leadership and its refusal to resume dialogue on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the suspended Indus Water Treaty.
The situation warrants that Pakistan prioritize internal stability, enhance military preparedness, and upgrade intelligence and defence systems to respond effectively in case of renewed aggression.
Prime Minister’s Visit to Forward Areas in Sialkot
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by key ministers, visited the Pasrur forward areas in Sialkot to commend the bravery and professionalism of troops during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, part of ‘Marka-e-Haq’. The Prime Minister received a briefing on operations and praised the Armed Forces for their decisive response. He interacted with frontline troops, calling them the nation’s crown jewels. He condemned Indian targeting of civilians and reaffirmed national pride in the martyrs (14.5.25).
Prime Minister’s Visit to Kamra Air Base
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by key ministers and all three service chiefs—COAS General Syed Asim Munir, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu—visited PAF’s Kamra operational base. He received a briefing on combat readiness and praised PAF personnel for their strategic response. He highlighted the successful downing of a sixth Indian aircraft, a Mirage 2000, near Pampore as a testament to PAF’s excellence. The Prime Minister praised the modernization of the Force and emphasized national unity and a firm response to aggression (15.5.25).
IAEA Refutes Radiation Leak Claims
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) refuted claims of a radiation leak from Pakistan’s nuclear facilities following India’s Operation Sindoor airstrikes. Allegations that Indian missiles struck the Kirana Hills in Sargodha, causing radioactive fallout, were dismissed by IAEA spokesperson Fredrik Dahl. He confirmed no radiation release occurred. Indian officials also denied targeting nuclear sites, affirming adherence to the 1988 bilateral accord (15.5.25).
DG ISPR Warns India in Sky News Interview
DG ISPR, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, warned in a Sky News interview that any Indian ceasefire violation would be met with a “swift and assured response.” He cautioned that further escalation could result in mutual destruction (15.5.25).
Part-2 Regional
AFGHANISTAN
Trilateral Meeting Between Afghanistan, Iran, and India on Chabahar Port
IEA Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi met with Iran’s Acting Ambassador Alireza Bikdeli in Kabul to discuss the upcoming trilateral meeting, the Farah–Mil 78 road project, the Khaf–Herat railway investment, and boosting trade via the Mahiroud route. They also discussed the planned visit of Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade to Afghanistan, as well as the seventh Joint Economic Cooperation Commission. Other topics included a preferential trade agreement, increasing Afghan exports, joint exhibitions, and industrial tours for Afghan companies. Iranian companies expressed interest in the Abu Hanifa exhibition and in hosting Afghan business exhibitions in Iran, reflecting growing trade ties between the two nations (8.5.25).
Meeting of Chinese and Russian Presidents in Moscow and statement on stability of Afghanistan
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the need for a stable, peaceful, and terrorism-free Afghanistan. Putin highlighted regional cooperation and the alignment between Moscow and Beijing. Their joint statement expressed willingness to enhance bilateral and multilateral efforts to support Afghanistan’s peace and neutrality. They backed regional frameworks like the Moscow Format, the China-Russia-Pakistan-Iran mechanism, and the SCO, with China currently leading the latter. While both nations cooperate via BRICS and SCO, formal recognition of the Taliban remains sensitive. China has accepted a Taliban diplomat, and Russia is considering formal recognition, though it remains delayed due to global politics (9.5.25).
Kabul to Host Afghanistan–China–Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue
Special envoys Muhammad Sadiq Khan (Pakistan) and Yue Ziayoung (China) met IEA Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they reviewed outcomes of the fifth Afghanistan–China–Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue and prepared for the upcoming sixth session. Discussions also covered the fifth meeting of foreign ministers from Afghanistan’s neighboring countries. Broader political and economic cooperation was a key focus. Acting Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani assured that no threat would arise from Afghanistan’s border regarding the Pakistan–India conflict (11.5.25).
Russian President Addresses Kazan Economic Forum
While addressing the 16th International Economic Forum “Russia–Islamic World,” known as the Kazan Forum, in the capital of Tatarstan, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that despite international complications, Moscow would continue effective cooperation with Islamic countries and expand ties across various sectors. A high-level IEA delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar represented Afghanistan at the forum (13.5.25).
Afghan and Indian Foreign Ministers Hold Telephonic Conversation
Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reportedly held a wide-ranging telephonic conversation aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. Discussions included strategic matters such as the Chabahar port, the recent Pakistan–India conflict, and enhancing regional cooperation, according to Afghan outlet Ariana News (15.5.25).
Comments & Analysis: Geopolitical analysts observe that Afghanistan is recalibrating regional ties amid worsening internal crises, influenced by Chinese and Russian meetings in Moscow, resurgent India–Afghanistan relations, and the U.S. President’s Middle East visit involving major trade and defense agreements. The proposed trilateral meeting on Chabahar port aligns with earlier agreements between Afghanistan, Iran, and India. However, the strengthening India–Afghanistan ties should be monitored closely by Pakistan due to India’s alleged nexus with banned Baloch separatists and TTP groups.
It is significant to note that Afghanistan remained neutral during the recent Pakistan–India conflict, posing no threat on the western border—a positive sign from the Taliban-led IEA government. The upcoming Pakistan–China–Afghanistan meeting in Kabul presents an opportunity for Afghanistan to normalize relations with Pakistan, eliminate terrorist safe havens, boost economic ties, and benefit from CPEC infrastructure projects.
ILLEGALLY INDIAN OCCUPIED JAMMU AND KASHMIR (IIOJK) / LOC
Indian security forces and police intensified their so-called anti-militancy drive in IIOJK, arresting hundreds of innocent Kashmiri youth under fabricated terrorism charges. Six youths were killed in two separate staged encounters—one in Shukroo forest (Shopian district) and the other in Nader Tral (Awantipora, Pulwama district) (13, 15.5.25).
COAS Visit to Srinagar
Indian COAS General Upendra Dwivedi visited forward areas manned by the Dagger Division under Chinar Corps in North Kashmir, interacting with troops along the LoC. He praised their operational readiness during Operation Sindoor and urged continued vigilance. He was received in Srinagar by Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava (15.5.25).
Defence Minister’s Visit to Srinagar
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Srinagar and met Armed Forces and civilian officials to celebrate the so-called success of Operation Sindoor. He as usual unleashed diatribe against Pakistan. His visit appears to follow PM Modi’s recent visit to Adampur Airbase. Analysts suggest Indian leadership is likely to launch a diplomatic and media campaign portraying Pakistan as unstable and unsafe for nuclear weapon possession (15.5.25).
Comments & Analysis: India’s political and military leadership is perplexed over the stunning response of Pakistan’s military and Airforce. It deemed it appropriate to unleash whirlwind tours to the airfields and other military areas targeted by Pakistan to raise morale of the forces and the people of those areas. Furthermore, it is sending delegations to important countries of the world to clarify its position and malign Pakistan for this limited war. Pakistan has already initiated its counter propaganda campaign to be spear-headed by Bilawal Bhutto.
Reactions of Kashmiri Political Parties to Ceasefire
Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, expressing hope for lasting peace. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that DGMOs of both countries agreed to halt all military actions from 10th May. The U.S. President’s mediation offer embarrassed both India’s BJP government and pro-India local Kashmiri parties, while Pakistan’s Prime Minister welcomed it.
PM Modi, in his national address (12.5.25), reiterated that talks with Pakistan would only be on terrorism and that Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will remain an integral part of India. Kashmiri leaders including Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, M. Y. Tarigami, and Sajad Lone supported the ceasefire, calling for relief, dialogue, and peace. Notably, most political parties in IIOJK are pro-India, seeking revival of autonomous status. Jamiat-e-Islami remains banned, and most Hurriyat leaders are jailed or under house arrest.

India is advancing its space-based surveillance amid a fragile ceasefire. The Ministry of Defence and ISRO are collaborating with private contractors to launch RISAT-IB on 18th May 2025, equipped with C-band SAR and optical systems. Ten satellites are already operating 24/7 for national security. The IAF is also planning to acquire three High Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) to bridge gaps between AWACS and satellites (10.5.25).

He chaired another security meeting on 14th May to review India’s preparedness (14.5.25).
