BALOCHISTAN

 Security agencies arrested a high-profile terrorist identified as Abdul Bari during his way from Afghanistan via Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing. He was involved in the brutal killing of eleven miners belonging to Hazra Community in Mach area in 2021. After the incident IS-K/Daesh claimed responsibility for the said act (6 September).

Unknown shooters martyred one Abdul Zahid of Levies force in Mastung district (7 September).

Unknown shooters killed a person by the name of Nazir Ahmed in Naseerabad district (7 September).

Unidentified armed persons kidnapped six football players on gunpoint from Jani Bir area of Sui Tehsil of the Dera Bugti district. They included Amir Bugti, Sohil Bugti, Yasir Bugti, Faisal Bugti, Sheraz Bugti (10 September).

Miscreants blew up a gas pipeline in Zain Loti area of in Dera Bughti district (12 September).

CTD police claimed to have killed top terrorist of IS-K/Daesh of Balochistan chapter identified as Commander Ghulam Din Shahwani @ Shoaib in exchange of fire in Mastung Town. According to the CTD spokesperson, the slain terrorist was involved in number of incidents including attacks on Jamat e Islami (JI) Chief Siraj ul Haq, Jamiat-e-Ulma-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Abdul Ghafoor Haidre, killings of 11 coal mine labourers in Bolan district and suicide attack on Civil Hospital in Quetta which took the lives of 60 persons and injuring dozens (13 September). The CTD spokesperson said the deceased joined the banned outfit in 2015 after getting training in Waziristan from the TTP.

JUI- F leader Hafiz Hamdullah and eleven others were injured in a bomb blast near Mastung on his way from Quetta to Kalat (13 September). Hafiz Hamdullah has recovered from the injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for this incident.

A gas well was blown up by unknown terrorists in Pirkoh field of Dera Bughti district (14 September).

Security forces killed three terrorists while repulsing their attack on Wali Tangi Security Post in Quetta. However, during the exchange of fire Subedar Qaiser Raheem embraced martyrdom (14 September).

KPK

 A mortar shell fired from an unknown direction landed on a house causing death of five family members in Shaktoi Arslkot area in North Waziristan district (6 Septembe).

Two labourers were killed, and twenty-five others injured when their vehicle hit a roadside IED planted by unknown terrorists in Shawal area of North Waziristan district (7 September).

One person was killed while another injured when their motorcycle hit an IED in Damadola area of Bajaur district (7 September).

A police constable, Ehsanullah was martyred in exchange of fire during an attack by the terrorists on Samiullah security post in Tank district (7 September).

A security forces convoy had a hair-breadth escape when a suicide bomber exploded before hitting the vehicles near the airport on Miranshah Road in Bannu district (7 September).

Unidentified persons after dropped the body of one Naik Muhommad in Saidusharif Hospital in Mingora, Swat district (7 September).

Railways police arrested a gang of suspected saboteurs unscrewing screws, bolts, and plates train track near Gunbat in Kohat district (7 September).

Police repulsed the attack of the unknown terrorists equipped with latest weapons on the the City Police Station, Lakki Marwat after reatalitoey exchange of fire (9 September).

Comments & Analysis: It is a positive sign that the police were prepared to face the attack and repulsed it effectively. But it also indicates glaring lacunas in the security system that enabled the terrorists reach the heart of city unchecked. Timely intelligence and prompt action are vital to neuteralise the terrorists before attack. Lakki Marwat has been target repeated of terrorists for the last one year. More resources and manpower should be deployed there to annihilate the terrorists once for all.

Frontier Corps (FC) Lance Naik Abdul Rehman was martyred and six others including three civilian passersby injured in an attack on its vehicle near Machni in Warsak, Peslehawar (10 September).

 An unidentified terrorist was killed in a premature detonation of IED whiile planting the same in Sultankhel area of Landhi Kotal tehsil of Khyber district (10 September).

Bullet-riddled bodies of two persons identified as Rafiullah and Imtiaz were found near a graveyard in Tajazai area while a young boy Alimzeb was gunned down by the unidentified assalients in Paharkhel Thall area of Lakki Marwat district (11 September).

 Unknown armed men killed one Ibrahim in Maryan area while a bullet-riddled body of one Ahmed Khan was found in Bangaikhel area of Bannu district (11 September).

Comments & Analysis: The puzzle of bullet-riddled bodies should not be left unattended. District police and administration must employ all efforts and resources to bridle this trend and ensure security of life and property at all costs.

In separate incidents, two persons Riaz Khan and Saddam Khan were killed by unknown assaliants in Kanju and Ogday Takhtabanda reas of Swat district (12 September).

Torkham Border Crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan at Landi Kotal, Khyber district was reopened after negotiations between the two countries at higher level. It was closed on 6 September following Pakistan’s objection over constructing a security post by the Afghan security personnels on Pakistan’s territory (14 September).

Comments & Analysis: Pakistan took a stiff stance over the arbitrary actions of Afghan border force this time and ensured that rules were followed, and territorial integrity was respected.

Peshawar CTD police claims to have killed three terrorists in exchange of fire in Faqir Baba Ziarat area in the limits of police station Khazana in Peshawar. The killed persons were Afghan nationals and identified as Arif, Muhammad and Shamas Rehman. They were allegedly affiliated with banned outfit ISKP/Daesh and involved in targeting ulema (religious scholars) and members of minorities, including Sikhs (15 September).

Punjab

CTD police claims to have arrested two alleged terrorists identified as Zakirullah and Eisah Khan affiliated with banned outfits from Rawalpindi and Gujranwala districts (9 September).

Sindh

Police found a bullets-riddled body of an unidentified person in bushes near Khawar Hussain Goth on Superhighway, Karachi. (7 September).

Qari Khurram Shehzad, Mithadar’s madrassah teacher, who was injured along with two other teachers in a firing incident by an unidentified armed motorcyclist during a marriage ceremony in Karachi, succumbed to injuries in a local hospital (11 September).

Unknown shooters shot dead a young student Shayan Javed in Hawks Bay, Karachi. He was son of a retired army officer and police is investigating to determine whether it was a targeted killing or otherwise (12 September).

 Unidentified shooters shot dead a madrassah administrator Ziaur Rehman in Gulshan Jouhar, Karachi (12 September).

Unknown armed persons shot dead a Watchman Nasir and injured another at a closed petrol pump in Korangi area of Karachi. The assailants did not take away anything from there (15 September).

AFGHANISTAN

An outlawed TTP Commander Badshah Khan Mehsud was killed in a land mine blast in Azbagi area of Paktika province. He was one one of the close aides of the TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud and was wanted in several cases of the terrorist incidents in Pakistan. TTP has sanctuaries in Afghanistan’s provinces including Khost, Paktika, Nangarhar, Nouristan which have border with Pakistan, and they keep attacking inside Pakistan from these areas (12 September).

Unknown shooters shot dead a schoolteacher Zamir Zarif in Muhammad Agaha district of Logar province (16 September).
