BALOCHISTAN

 Unknown gunmen martyred two police constables – Jawad and another on security duties with a Polio vaccination team in Nawan Kalli area of Quetta district (1 August).

During exchange of fire with unknown gunmen, three persons including Nawazada Haroon Raisani Deputy Director Food Authority (nephew of former CM Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani), transporter Baramdad Lehri and a Levi Force guard were killed on Saryab Road, Quetta. Police is investigating to determine the motives behind the incident (2 August).

 Five Levies Force personnel including Rasaldar Major Muhammad Nadeem were injured in a blast of magnetic bomb stoked with their vehicle in Maxai Adha area of Qila Abdullah district (4 August).

A Police constable, performing security duty with the polio vaccination team, remained unhurt during a gun attack by the unknown armed motorcyclists in the Killi Wambrani area of Quetta (5 August).

Comments & Analysis: Polio teams are being targeted in Balochistan and KP which shows the outreach and declared strategy of the terrorist groups. Usually, TTP and its affiliated groups resort to such tactics. There have been cases of threats to polio teams in Punjab as well.

At least seven people including Ishaq Balgatri, chairman of a union council were killed in a bomb explosion in Balgatar area of Kech district near Panjgur border (7 August). The vehicle was targeted through a remote-controlled blast. The victims were going in a vehicle for a wedding party when targeted,” Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove confirmed. He said miscreants targeted the vehicle through a remote-controlled bomb. A levy official disclosed that the blast happened 140 kilometers away from Panjgur near the Kech district’s border.

Comments & Analysis: Panjgur and Kech also share borders with Iran. Dozens of deadly attacks on security forces and government-backed groups have taken place in the area before.

Two Levies personnel were martyred while three others suffered injuries during an encounter with dacoits in Raarha Sham area of Nohki, Musa Khel district, Balochistan. The culprits managed to escape the scene (7 August).

KPK

In a suicide bomb blast, 64 persons including Moulana Ziaullah Jan were martyred and 200 others injured in the Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI-F) workers convention at Khar in Bajaur district. 12 Kg explosive was used in the blast. ISIS-K/Daesh claimed responsibility of the attack (30 July).

Comments & Analysis: The incident took place when Chinese Deputy Prime Minister reached Islamabad to participate in the CPEC celebrations and bilateral cooperation between the two countries. CPEC is the target of hostile forces and terrorists. The incident was condemned domestically and internationally including Afghan government spokes person Zabiullah Mujahid.

Unidentified motorcyclists martyred a Police Constable Farooq Khan and injured another during the attack on a police patrol party near Government Girls Coogee, Takhatbai, Marda district (31 July).

CTD police claims to have arrested three accused identified as Dilawar Khan and his two sons Zabita Khan and Arif Khan from Phulgran area for allegedly facilitating the suicide bomber who detonated himself on 25 July in Ali Masjid, Landi Kotal on in Bara tehsil of Khyber district. The blast resulted in martyrdom of Additional SHO of Police Adnan Afridi and injuring several others. During the raid an AK-47 rifle, suicide jacket and bullets were also recovered from their possession (2 August).

 Two security forces (FC) personnel were martyred in exchange of fire during an ambush by the terrorists on this checkpost in Tirah valley of Khyber district (2 August).

An FC soldier was injured in exchange of fire during an attack by the terrorists on the military vehicle on way to Jansi Fort in Bara, Khyber district (3 August).

Unknown gunmen shot dead a retired employee of a security agency identified as Qamar in Biffa area of Mansehra district (4 August).

Unidentified gunmen in separate incidents shot dead two persons in Ipi and Eidak villages of Murali besides torching eight vehicles parked in local hotel of Murali in North Waziristan district (4 August).

Additional Deputy Commissioner – Relief Qaisar Khan Kundi was slightly injured but his son remained unhurt during a terrorist attack on their vehicle in Ramzak area of North Waziristan district (5 August).

A policeman was martyred, and two cops were injured in a late-night attack on a police party on Afridi Road in Badaber (6 August). An official said assistant sub inspector Farid Khan and two constables Yar Muhammad and Ghulam Hussain sustained injuries when armed attackers opened fire on their car in Badaber. They were shifted to hospital. Constable Yar Muhammad succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

Police Constable Yar Muhammad was martyred, and two others were injured during an attack by unidentified terrorists on their mobile van in Bad But area of Peshawar (7 August).

Punjab

CTD police claims to have arrested 10 alleged terrorists affiliated with proscribed organisation including TTP and ISIS in different raids from Lahore, Multan, DG Khan for carrying attacks on shrines and worship places while two were arrested from Attack to target Chinese citizens. Azher, Adeel, Rizwan, Abdul Rehman, Usman, Asif, Muawiya, Rehman and Hazrat Gul (28 July).

Sindh

A Rangers official, Dilshad, aged 30, was shot dead during snap checking at a check post in Karachi city’s Lyari area (7 August). Armed pillion riders attacked him while he was on duty at the check post on Al-Falah Road in Chakiwara. The attackers opened fire and quickly fled the scene.
